Pentagon locks down after reported metro shooting WASHINGTON: The Pentagon imposed a security lockdown Thursday following an incident in the metro station that serves the US military headquarters, a spokesman said.

The Pentagon spokesman would not comment on the incident itself, but television news reports said shots were fired in the station.

"The Pentagon is in lockdown due to an incident at the metro station," said the spokesman.

Television news reports said shots were fired in the station and three people were wounded, including two police officers.

Besides serving the Pentagon, the station is a major transportation hub for bus service into surburban northern Virginia and is crowded during the evening rush hour.
